What is "Poker"?

What is Poker?
Poker is generally a game of short term luck and long term skill which is played strictly against other players. The object of the game is to win money. Most often winning is accomplished by having the best hand, however unlike most other casino games "bluffing" is an integral part of the game.

Why should I play poker at Tunica Area Casinos?
Tunica Mississippi area casinos offer their poker playing patrons the finest, most modern facilities, and the largest selection of games available anywhere in the world. As a the newest world-class gaming destination, all facilities are state-of-the-art for your enjoyment.

Does the Dealer play?
No. Dealers does not participate in any standard poker game (except in Caribbean Poker games), and has no interest in the outcome of any hand. Tunica  Dealers provide the services required to run a well paced and controlled game.

How many decks of cards are used?
All poker games are played with one (1) standard 52 card deck. Some games such as 5-Card Draw games require the additional use of a Joker, and other such as the various Asian Game variations require certain cards to be removed from the deck.

What is "table stakes"?
All poker games offered  are "table stakes". A player must make a full "buy-in" upon being seated in a game and beginning play unless they are being moved to a game of the same type and limits from a "must move" game or a broken game.

Once beginning play, a player may add to their stake at any time in between hands. Players can not lose their interest in the pot if they do not have enough monies remaining to cover any subsequent action to them during the play of a hand, they may go "all-in" and remain in contention for a portion of that pot.

Players may not remove any significant portion of their stake unless they are done playing that game.

What if I run out of money?
You can add money to your stake at anytime between hands. A player may go "all-in" whenever they are active in a hand and have depleted their table stake. They will remain active in the pot to that point, and will still be eligible to win the amount equal to their interest in the pot, but not any subsequent betting by the remaining players.

Automated teller machines (ATMs) are located in all casinos and are accessible around the clock. Most casino credit policies preclude offering credit for poker play.

How do I make a bet?
When it is your turn to act, place the appropriate amount of chips inside the betting area (usually about halfway between a player and the pot), where they will remain until all other players have acted. The Dealer will then collect the wagers into the "pot".

What is "calling" a bet?
You call a bet when you match the total amount of the wagers to you.

How do I make a "raise"?
A raise may be made by placing the proper amount of chips into the betting area, but a verbal declaration of your intent to raise is always the best approach to avoid any misunderstandings. Be aware that a raise which is not made properly may be disallowed.
